Bun Lee is a great option for those looking for vibrant food packed with flavour. Think soft Bao Buns for under $5, $10 fresh Banh Mi or generous $4 rice paper rolls. These can be paired with a fresh juice or cold brew coffee. Perfect for a quick lunch on the go.
I’ll also let you in on a secret. If you’re there in the evening from Thursday to Sunday, head in after 5 and go through the door at the back to find a secret Vietnamese themed bar called NAAMI. It’s well worth heading to and you can enjoy your food with one of their exceptional cocktails. Highly recommend doing this because this bar is something special!

This Lebanese Bakery and grocery store is a special find. They serve up traditional Lebanese pizzas served on a flatbread and loaded with toppings. The lamb special is one of the picks of the bunch with marinated minced lamb, cheese, sumac, olives, tomato and capsicum. If you prefer, they also have a range of amazing pides. These are all very fairly priced, leaving you change from $10 that you can spend on their sweet biscuits or baklava. La Diosa Mexicana (Surfers Paradise)
If you’re on a budget but are wanting to try some of the best Mexican food on the coast, then you’re in luck. La Diosa Mexicana offers a $3 taco Tuesday with four choices of tacos including Al pastor chorizo with slaw, onion, coriander crema and pico de gallo or Fried Cauliflower, slaw, eggplant jam, tahini, pico de gallo. German ex-pats and varsity lakes locals were overjoyed when they heard a German Bakery was coming to the coast. This newcomer is a perfect choice for those looking for some tasty Gold Coast cheap eats. For lunch, they have European style sandwiches served on their freshly baked rolls or pretzel rolls. While you are there, it will be hard to resist one of their sweet offerings. Don’t fight the urge. Give in. You won’t be disappointed!
My Saigon Tuckshop (West Burleigh)
This locals-only spot is for those in the know. Their loyal following lines up for the best value Vietnamese around. Miami Marketta (Miami)
The street food wonderland offers a wide array of street vendors displaying cuisines from across the globe. Expect to pay $10 to $15 for a meal with options such as wood-fired pizza, Thai, Mexican, Greek along with sweet options. They have fully licenced bars, plenty of seating and it’s all undercover! 5B2f Bakehouse (Southport)
Most bakeries would fall into the cheap eats’ category, yet few bakeries on the coast can match the quality of 5B2F. They have a wide range of pies and sausage rolls for lunch that are sure to delight the biggest pie fans. They also have a variety of sweet options that are baked in a perfect French style. White Rhino (Surfers Paradise)
If you’re looking for a reason to head into Surfers Paradise on a Wednesday, then this is it. White Rhino holds its “Wings Wednesday” with insanely cheap 10 wings.
